Alexander Balsam, Esq. is a partner with Balsam, Schmid & Huber, LLP. Mr. Balsam's practice focuses in all aspects of real estate law, land-use, planning and zoning, environmental matters, agricultural land-use, small business formation and will preparation. When not in the law office, Mr. Balsam can be found working the fields of Balsam Farms, LLC, a local farming operation of which he is founder and co-owner. He resides with his family in East Hampton.
Elizabeth Schmid, Esq. is a partner with Balsam, Schmid & Huber, LLP. Ms. Schmid practices in all facets of real estate law, including purchases, sales, leasing, land-use, zoning, planning and environmental matters, as well as other areas of law including construction matters and landowner disputes. Ms. Schmid has extensive experience in a broad range of commercial litigation matters in local, state and federal courts, as well arbitration. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Schmid was a commercial litigator with the national law firm of Winget, Spadafora & Schwartzberg, LLP, in Manhattan. Ms. Schmid resides with her husband in East Hampton.
John Huber is a partner with Balsam, Schmid & Huber, LLP, and focuses his practice on all aspects of land-use, planning, zoning, environmental matters, and related litigation. He enjoys the in-depth technical analysis frequently required for handling challenging, innovative or novel projects. John is an experienced advocate, having appeared extensively before municipal boards across Long Island. Before joining our firm, Mr. Huber served as Co-Managing Partner of Ré, Nielsen, Huber & Coughlin, LLP, a well-regarded Long Island law firm concentrating its practice on sophisticated land use, governmental compliance and regulatory matters. During his 14 year tenure with Ré, Nielsen, Huber & Coughlin, LLP (and its predecessor firm, Munley, Meade, Nielsen & Ré), John represented multinational, national and local companies in some of Long Island's most novel and challenging land use and zoning projects.
Alexandra Kushner, Esq. is an attorney with Balsam, Schmid & Huber, LLP. Ms. Kushner's practice focuses on zoning, land use, residential real estate transactions and estate matters. As a lifelong resident, she possesses an intimate knowledge of the East End of Long Island. Ms. Kushner was born in Sag Harbor and moved to East Hampton in 2017 where she now lives with her fiancé and their dog Theo.
